To make the new Femern Belt Fixed Link (FBFL) infrastructure useable, operational and beneficial for our customers we need a strong and market-oriented cooperation and coordination among all stakeholders involved in the project at EU, national, and local levels. It is critical to address the operational, processual, communicative challenges faced by the users of the new infrastructure at an early stage and coordinate closely with the constructors of the infrastructure. This is why the Femern Belt Platform (FBP) has been implemented.

The overall scope of the FBP is to create a forum where different stakeholders and customers together may raise rail-related issues that are important to the success of the FBFL and its northern and southern feeder lines as part of the northern European transport network. To reach this goal, the FBP will organise relevant communication and workshop forums for all rail industry stakeholders with a strong focus on customer involvement. The aim of enhanced customer involvement is the alignment of infrastructure capabilities, operations and capacity to the customer needs.

The work in the FBP aims towards minimising the operational, technical, and legal barriers for seamless operation of international cross-border rail connections as well as to analyse and maximise the path capacities made available by the new infrastructure. Part of this picture is e.g., technical, infrastructural, procedural, and regulatory interoperability as well as cross-network coordinated maintenance and contingency management.
